Basic Project Management Training – Courses in Dubai and Boston

This basic project management training course will provide delegates with an introductory overview of the world of project management.  It covers basic Project Management concepts including project management definitions, project and project management life cycles and approaches (traditional and agile), types of organizations and who the project stakeholders are.  It also covers essential steps in initiating, planning, executing and closing projects.

This course is introductory in nature and can be a great introduction to cross-functional organizations prior to conducting a full PMP® exam prep course.

All students will be supplied with customized course materials.

This basic project management course will:

• Introduce delegates to the processes within traditional and agile project management
• Teach delegates how to use common project management tools and techniques
• Provide an opportunity to understand the scope of a project manager’s duties – useful for senior managers also.

Course is presented as PowerPoint presentations that are explained by the instructor, while keeping students engaged via practical project simulation workshops and topic discussions. Flip charts will be used to demonstrate key points. Interactive quizzes and activities will be introduced at different points to enhance the learning process.

Course will be conducted over a period of 2 or 3 days, starting from 8:30 AM and ending at 2:30 PM* daily, with allowances for short refreshment breaks, prayer time, and lunch break. *For in-house courses, timings can be customized by mutual agreement.

• Developing the Product Backlog (agile)—Purpose, contents
• Developing the Project Management Plan

• The process of monitoring and controlling

Planning the Project

• Collecting Project Requirements (waterfall) and User Stories (agile)
• Planning and defining project scope
• Creating the WBS – Scope decomposition, Work packages, WBS dictionary
• Agile Release Planning, Sprint/Iteration Planning
• Identifying project activities
• Estimating activity durations and resources
• Estimating User Stories on agile projects, iteration backlog and planning
• Developing the project schedule

Monitoring and Controlling the Project

• Controlling the project schedule
• Understanding Agile Ceremonies, team collaboration, sprint reviews, standup meetings
• Communicating project performance

Closing Out The Project

• Administrative closure procedures, Agile Definition of Done
• Updating Organizational processes assets, knowledge management
• Documenting Lessons Learned and conducting agile retrospectives

Training in Dubai on PM Fundamentals

At the completion of this training program, attendees will each be awarded PMI Endorsed Certificates worth 14 Professional Development Units (PDU’s), which be used towards the hours needed for applying and sitting for the PMP professional certification exam.
